Favourite places around Turks and Caicos identified by stakeholders

The dataset is a point shapefile layer presenting rough locations of favourite places identified by stakeholders during series of meetings in January and February 2020. The meetings were part of the MSP Project and aimed in bringing all islands' stakeholders to the process of developing marine spatial planning tools.

Lineage Favourite places were identified by stakeholders using aerial image based maps of the area. On every workshop two groups were created and every group had two maps: one small covering the island on which the workshop took place, and one large covering all the Turks and Caicos Islands. Every stakeholder selected up to three top favourite places, stick an orange label on the map and wrote in one word why he or she considers it as a favourite place. The maps were later on georeferenced and the information from labels was entered to the shapefile database. The points were placed in the center of every label. Favourite places in the dataset were divided to reason, place of the workshop and type of the map (large or small).
