Species presence grid for the Turks and Caicos Islands

The species distribution grid is a dataset comprising information about confirmed presence of various species of fish, birds, mammals, reptiles and other animals in and around Turks and Caicos Islands. The grid has the resolution of 1km and covers area within Turks and Caicos Exclusive Economic Zone. At the moment the layer consist of a set of the following species: Nassau Grouper, Yellowtail Snapper, Great Barracuda, Horse-Eye Jack, Parrotfish species (genus: Sparisoma and Scarus), Bluehead Wrasse, Ocean Triggerfish, Spotted Eagle Ray, Nurse Shark, Carribean Shark, Queen Conch and Caribbean Spiny Lobster.

Lineage The data for species presence comes from various available sources, including: GBIF database, REEF volunter fish project database, AGRRA fish presence, and DECR surveys data. Species presenece is indicated if at least one confirmed record fall within the particulart grid cell. Value 1 repsresents presence of the species while value 0 represents cells for which no confirmend information was available. Value 0 doesn't mean absence of the species.
